Business Summary

The Business Summary page provides a high-level view of the business’s financial and operating activity.

Use this page to review income, expenses, sales activity, appointments, and year-to-date performance without opening each individual report.

The Business Summary is designed to help identify trends, monitor profitability, and recognize areas that may require additional attention.

Information Included in the Summary

Depending on the selected date range and available business activity, the Business Summary may include:

  • Total business income
  • Service sales
  • Retail sales
  • Tips
  • Taxes collected
  • Credit card payments
  • Credit card processing fees
  • Total expenses
  • Net income
  • Appointment activity
  • Year-to-date income and expense comparisons

The exact information displayed depends on the transactions currently recorded in Peach Suite Pro.

Selecting a Date Range

Select the beginning and ending dates for the Business Summary.

Common reporting periods include:

  • Today
  • This Week
  • This Month
  • Last Month
  • Year-to-Date
  • Custom Date Range

The page updates based on the selected date range.

Use the same date range when comparing the Business Summary with another Peach Suite Pro report.

Total Business Income

Total Business Income represents income recorded during the selected period.

This may include:

  • Service income entered through Finish Session
  • Retail product sales entered through Finish Session
  • General business income entered on the Income page
  • Other qualifying income recorded by the business

Income connected to an appointment should normally be entered through Finish Session.

General income that is not connected to an appointment may be entered directly on the Income page.

Service Sales

Service Sales represent income earned from services provided to clients.

Service income is normally recorded when an appointment is completed through Finish Session.

Using Finish Session keeps the service income connected to the appointment, client, provider, and related financial information.

Retail Sales

Retail Sales represent income from products sold to clients.

Retail products sold during an appointment should normally be entered through Finish Session.

This allows Peach Suite Pro to connect the product sale with the appointment and update the related financial and inventory records when applicable.

Gross Sales

Gross Sales represent the total recorded sales before certain deductions, such as credit card processing fees.

Gross Sales may include service sales, retail sales, and other qualifying sales amounts.

Taxes and tips may be displayed separately so they can be reviewed independently from business sales.

Tips

Tips represent gratuities received from clients.

Tips are shown separately from service and retail income so the business can review them independently.

Tips recorded during Finish Session are included in the Business Summary for the selected date range.

Taxes Collected

Taxes Collected represent sales tax charged to clients when applicable.

Collected sales tax is shown separately because it is generally not the same as earned business income.

The business may be responsible for reporting and paying collected taxes to the appropriate taxing authority.

Peach Suite Pro does not replace professional tax advice or official tax filings.

Credit Card Payments

Credit Card Payments represent income received through credit or debit card transactions.

This information can help compare Peach Suite Pro activity with payment processor reports and bank deposits.

Timing differences may occur when a payment processor deposits funds on a different day than the original transaction date.

Credit Card Processing Fees

Credit Card Processing Fees represent fees charged for accepting card payments.

These fees are displayed separately so the business can compare gross card sales with the amount remaining after processing costs.

For example:

  • Credit card sale: $100.00
  • Processing fee: $3.00
  • Amount after processing fee: $97.00

The exact deposit may also be affected by taxes, tips, refunds, chargebacks, or payment processor timing.

Total Expenses

Total Expenses represent business expenses recorded during the selected date range.

Expenses may include:

  • Rent
  • Supplies
  • Inventory purchases
  • Advertising
  • Software subscriptions
  • Insurance
  • Professional services
  • Credit card processing fees
  • Other operating expenses

The Business Summary is only as complete as the income and expense information entered into Peach Suite Pro.

Automatic and Recurring Expenses

Expenses created by Automatic Expenses are included after they have been successfully posted to the Expenses page.

A recurring expense that is still pending, due, skipped, paused, or failed may not yet be included in the financial totals.

Review Automatic Expenses when an expected recurring cost is missing from the Business Summary.

Net Income

Net Income generally represents total income minus total expenses for the selected date range.

A simplified calculation is:

Total Income − Total Expenses = Net Income

A positive amount means recorded income exceeded recorded expenses during the selected period.

A negative amount means recorded expenses exceeded recorded income during the selected period.

Net Income in the Business Summary is an operational estimate based on transactions recorded in Peach Suite Pro. It may not include every accounting adjustment required for tax or financial-statement purposes.

Year-to-Date Comparisons

Year-to-Date, or YTD, figures show activity from January 1 through the current date.

YTD comparisons may include:

  • Total income earned this year
  • Total expenses recorded this year
  • YTD net income
  • Changes compared with another period
  • Whether income is increasing or decreasing
  • Whether expenses are increasing faster than income

YTD information provides a broader view than a daily or monthly report and can help identify the overall direction of the business.

Comparing Income and Expenses

Income and expense comparisons help determine whether the business is earning enough revenue to support its operating costs.

When reviewing the comparison, consider:

  • Whether sales increased or decreased
  • Whether expenses changed unexpectedly
  • Whether processing fees increased
  • Whether service and retail sales are growing
  • Whether recurring costs are being recorded
  • Whether any income or expenses are missing

A single period may not show the entire financial picture. Review several periods to identify meaningful trends.

Appointment Activity

The Business Summary may include appointment totals for the selected date range.

Appointment information may include:

  • Total appointments
  • Booked appointments
  • Completed appointments
  • Cancelled appointments
  • Overdue appointments
  • Projected appointment revenue
  • Completed appointment revenue

Projected revenue is not the same as completed income.

Income from an appointment is normally recorded after the appointment is completed through Finish Session.

Projected Revenue and Recorded Income

Projected revenue is based on scheduled appointment information, such as the service price recorded at booking.

Recorded income reflects completed financial activity.

The two amounts may differ because of:

  • Cancelled appointments
  • Changed services
  • Discounts
  • Added services
  • Retail purchases
  • Tips
  • Taxes
  • Appointments that have not been completed through Finish Session

Use completed income when reviewing actual financial performance.

Where Business Summary Information Comes From

The Business Summary combines information recorded throughout Peach Suite Pro.

Sources may include:

  • Finish Session
  • Income
  • Expenses
  • Automatic Expenses
  • Appointments
  • Retail sales
  • Payment records
  • Credit card processing fees
  • Taxes and tips

Incorrect, incomplete, or duplicated entries in these areas may affect the Business Summary.

Avoiding Duplicate Income

Do not manually enter service or retail income on the Income page when it was already recorded through Finish Session.

Entering the same transaction in both places may cause income to be counted twice.

Before adding general income, confirm that the transaction is not already connected to a completed appointment.

Reviewing Unexpected Totals

If a total appears incorrect, review the related transaction details.

Common causes include:

  • An appointment was not completed through Finish Session
  • Income was entered twice
  • An expense is missing
  • A recurring expense failed to post
  • The wrong date was entered
  • A transaction was recorded under the wrong category
  • A refund or adjustment was not recorded
  • The selected date range is incorrect

Use the detailed Income and Expense Reports to investigate the individual transactions included in a summary total.

Printing the Business Summary

Use the Print option to create a printable version of the Business Summary.

Before printing, confirm:

  • The correct date range is selected
  • The totals have been reviewed
  • All expected income and expenses have been entered
  • Any overdue appointments have been reviewed

The printed summary may be useful for business meetings, management review, or recordkeeping.

Downloading Business Summary Information

When available, Business Summary information may be downloaded in:

  • Excel format
  • CSV format

Excel files are useful for additional calculations, formatting, comparisons, and financial analysis.

CSV files provide a simple data format that can be opened in spreadsheet programs or imported into other accounting and reporting systems.

Confirm the selected date range before downloading a report.

Important

It does not replace bank reconciliation, tax filings, payroll records, official accounting statements, or professional financial advice.

Review the detailed transactions and consult a qualified accounting or tax professional when official financial reporting is required.
